The idea behind the Reserve

The Archaeological Reserve Genius Loci is a place which combines tradition with modern technology. A fully interactive exhibition, equipped with multimedia kiosks and holographic projectors, takes visitors on a tour around the 10th-century architecture of Ostrów Tumski. The exhibition begins in the cinema room, where a 3D film about the origins of Poznan and archaeological research carried out in the area is screened. Then one moves on to the rooms with glass floors, under which the ramparts of the Poznań stronghold from the 10th century and the foundations of the wall of Bishop Jan Lubrański are exposed.

The aim of the Archaeological Reserve "Genius Loci" is to provide visitors with direct contact with the historical relics of the beginnings of the Polish state and the oldest fortification structures. In addition to the permanent exhibition, the building has designated space for temporary exhibitions.

The Reserve invites the representatives of various branches of science who would like to share the ideas and show interesting solutions in technology, engineering as well as culture and art. We want this innovative centre for historical education to become a place where the past attracts open-minded and creative people and become an inspiration for the future.
